• K-FOOD Junior Chef Culinary Contest 2016


    Eligibility

    1. Contestants must be between the 3rd to 12th grade (from Elementary to High School)
    2. Contestants must agree to be filmed by media during the contest 


    The Competition

    Get inspired by the variety and versatility of Korean ingredients and develop an original recipe in the entrée category that contains Korean ingredients.

    • Contestants will be required to submit an application along with the recipe for their entrée through the Tasty K-Food website

    • The recipe should contain a detailed description of how to make the dish.
      It should include an ingredients list, a step by step preparation method and/or cooking techniques, and plating instructions.

    Based on the recipes, 7 finalists will be selected for a cook-off event. The panel of judges consist of world renowned Chef Gino Campagna,
    Rachael Ray’s Kids Cook-Off winner Scarlett Smorynski, and World Federation of Korean Food Globalization President Jong Taek Lim.

     

    Application Timeline

    • Week of June 20, 2016: Call for entries begin.
    • August 14, 2016: Deadline to submit entries.
    • August 15, 2016: The finalists will be announced at www.tastykfood.com
    • August 19, 2016: Cook-off of recipes at The Gourmandise School.
      The audience for the Cook-off will consist of journalists and media representatives.
      We anticipate approximately 100 attendees at the event.

     

    Requirements

    • A list of featured Korean ingredients can be found at www.tastykfood.com
    • All recipes should contain Korean ingredients. The more Korean ingredients are used; the more points will be awarded.
    • Contestants are required to bring to the cook-off all necessary ingredients to make their dish along with any personal cooking tools needed.    Basic cooking tools such as pots, pans and knives will be provided but are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.
    • K-Food Junior Chef will retain rights to all recipes entered, and may use the winning recipes for PR purposes, given that it states that the recipe(s) is from a competition sponsored by Korea Agro Trade Corporation and Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Korea.

    Cook-off Event

    • The selected finalists will be given 45min. (Prep 10min / Cook 35min) to prepare their recipes at the cook-off event on Friday, August 19 at the Gourmandise School.
    • Contestants will be required to present the dish to the panel with a brief explanation of the recipe.
        

    Judging Criteria

    Entries will be scored by the panel of judges based on the following criteria:

    • Prominence and appropriate use of Korean Ingredients (25 possible points)
    • Flavor (25 possible points)
    • Appearance (20 possible points)
    • Creativity (10 possible points)
    • Ease of Preparation (10 possible points)
    • Presentation (10 possible points)
    • Total: 100 possible points

     

    Prizes

    All 7 finalists will be eligible to receive one of the following prizes:

    • Grand Prize: USD $700.00
    • Second Place: USD $400.00
    • Third Place: USD $200.00
    • Fourth Place: USD $100.00 worth of Korean products
    • Fifth, Sixth & Seventh Place: USD $50.00 worth of Korean products

    2016年K-Food少年廚技大賽

    資格

    比賽
    受韓國食材品種和多樣性的啟發,並用韓國食材開發創意一道主菜。

    • 要求參賽者在報名時通過Tasty K-Food網站提交一份主菜的食譜。
      •食譜應該包括如何做這道菜的詳細介紹或故事。

    應該包含食材清單、做菜的每一步方法,烹飪技巧和裝盤說明。

    根據食譜,將選拔出7個選手參加廚藝決賽。評審團由下列人員組成:

    • 世界著名廚師Gino Campagna
    • Rachael Ray’s兒童烹飪比賽獎得主Scarlett Smorynski
    • 以及韓食世界化 會長Jong Taek Lim。

    申請的時間點

    • 2016年6月20日:開始上網報名
    • 2016年8月14日:報名截止。

    • 2016年8月19日:在LA Santa Monica Place Gourmandise School進行決賽。

    決賽的觀眾將包括記者和媒體代表。

    要求

    所有食譜必須使用韓國食材。韓國食材用的越多,得分就會越高。

    K-food少年廚師將保留對所有參賽食譜的權利,并且可把獲獎食譜用來公關,

    決賽

    • 2016年8月19日(周五)在Gourmandise School舉行的決賽中,每位參加決賽的選手可用45分鐘的時間(準備10分鐘/做菜35分鐘)來完成參加決賽的菜。
