We at TastyKfood were able to attain two short but informative interviews on Chef Gino Campagna and Chef Scarlett Smorynski, the judges of K-Food Junior Cook-off on August 19, 2016.

    Interview with Chef Gino Campagna

Could you briefly introduce yourself to our readers, please?

My name is Gino Campagna, they call me Chef Gino. My mission for the last twenty years has been to raise American families' Food IQ.I host live events, teach classes, host TV and web shows, endorse products and more: I do everything I can to expose American families - children especially - to fresh, tasty, healthy, homemade food

What inspired you to become a chef?

I come from Parma, Italy, the capital of food in the world. Growing up, I was surrounded by the greatest ingredients and a rich, ancient culinary tradition. My luck was that I was born an in household where the best chef in the world cooked: My mom Pina! She was, and still is my inspiration.

What was it like to for you to judge the K-Food Junior Cook-off?

I had a terrific time hosting the K-Food Junior Cook-off. Everybody was so nice and the event itself was beautifully produced. The Junior Chefs who had the chance to participate were FANTASTIC, with an understanding of great food way beyond their young age. It was an event to remember.

Do you have a set philosophy when it comes to your work?

My philosophy is simple. I want to celebrate great, homemade fresh food. I want to engage with the future generations by using fun and creativity in the kitchen. To do that, I create a playful environment where kids and families feel free to explore, create and have fun.

Could we ask you about your future plans and goals?

I'm very happy to announce that I recently signed my first book deal with Rodale Kids, a newly formed entity inside the prestigious company, Rodale Inc. The book will be titled, “Taste Test Kitchen” and will be available next year. Another thing that I just did is participating in the Emmy-nominated show, “Born This Way” on A&E. This is a groundbreaking show and I did a little appearance on the first season. For the second season, I'll be the special guest in the grand finale.

    Interview with Chef Scarlett Smorynski

    st

Could you briefly introduce yourself to our readers, please?

Hi, I'm Scarlett Smorynski and I am 12 years old.

I live in Hollywood, CA and I love to cook. When I was younger, my parents couldn't cook anything!!! But my Korean grandmother (on my dad's side) made really delicious, traditional Korean food. So basically, I started cooking because anything I would make would certainly be better than my father's cooking.

What inspired you to become a chef at a young age?

I really loved watching cooking shows. They inspired me to try and start cooking. Once I got started, I couldn’t stop.

What was it like to for you to judge the K-Food Junior Cook-off?

I never judged a competition before and it was a really cool experience. Walking in, I honestly didn't know what to expect and I was just so shocked at how great the kids were. I loved talking to the kids while they were cooking to kind of understand where the kids are coming from.

I also had a blast with Chef Gino, he is just a huge ball of energy. Overall, it was just a blast!!

Do you have a set philosophy when it comes to your work?

Well, I believe if you have a true passion for something, you're going to succeed. Because you really want to do it all the time and try to do your best at it.

Could we ask you about your future plans and goals?

One day I would like to own a restaurant(s) and hopefully, have a cooking show and maybe someday a bakery. I'm a big optimist!! :)

Thank you very much, Chef Gino and Chef Scarlett. We wish you all the success in the future!
